Description:
Ted Williams (1918 - 2002) played for the Boston Red Sox, from 1939 through the 1960 season. He is acclaimed as “the greatest hitter who ever lived.” The over life-size bronze portrait of Williams commemorates his work off the field for the Jimmy Fund and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. He is shown putting his cap on a young Jimmy Fund patient. The sculpture is the work of Franc Talarico. It was commissioned by Williams’ friend, Hank Evanish and given to the City of Boston in 2004.
